If the tour and date you like is set to call to book then please call us to book your tour. We are very sorry for the extra step and we hope you understand its not really by choice. We have to be sure that each tour does not get over full and that we have proper staff on hand for the tours.
All tours for June and beyond are open for bookings and you may book them at your convenience. Thank you all so much for visiting and we hope to see you on a tour very soon.

Mom and Pop Tour Shop

It said write a catchy title ... so I did. So I wanted to tell you all a little bit about us, our story. We are owned and operated by true locals (that's us). Myself and my family have lived in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains for over 215 years. My Momma's side of the family, the Ogles, were the first European settlers in Gatlinburg in 1803. My Daddy's side of the family, the Ownby's, came along not to long there after. You can see my ancestors cabins in town and inside the park. Both sides of my family have worked, lived, and died here in the Smokies. All our stories come not from books but from first hand experiences through the stories that were passed down to me from my elders over the years. Most of those stories have been shared in books that you can read, this is true, but with us you get it right from the horses mouth so to speak. We also have lots of stories that never made it into a book. There was so much more to life in the Smokies than can be contained in a book. My wife and her people have been here much longer. Martha Jane Huskey Ogle was said to have been half Cherokee and she married a European man from Virginia named William Ogle. I followed in his footsteps so to speak by getting married to a wonderful women who has strong Cherokee roots. Our family has lots of stories from as far back as time can remember.

We are just a small company, under staffed and out matched by the big boys. Our buses aren't new and shiny but they run well due to our constant vigilance in maintaining them and making them look nice for our guests. We love what we do, sharing our stories and we appreciate everyone who books our tours. I just want to thank each and every one of you who books our tours. You are appreciated and I hope we can fully exceed your expectations. Even if you don't book a tour with us I hope you enjoy your vacation and make lots of great memories here in the Smoky Mountains.

Want to be an Eco Friendly tourist?

Taking a tour will make you more Eco Friendly. That's right folks, "car pooling" is a much more Eco Friendly way to see the Smokies. Instead of having 10 families in their 10+ different automobiles we can put them all on a single bus. Tours are not only more Eco Friendly but more fun, more informational, and lower stress. We do all the driving while you relax and enjoy your day. Pollution is a problem in the Smoky Mountains due to the high volume of traffic that goes through it each and every day. One trip up to Clingman's Dome to see our dead and dying fur trees will confirm that. However, it's not just from emissions but also from sound and waste. Taking a tour may seem like a small step but if we eliminate only 10 extra cars a week, that takes over 500 automobiles and their impact out of the park each year. In a typical week during the summer we often transport enough passengers to remove far more than 10 cars a week. With over 12.5 Million visitors a year who come to see the Smokies, every parked car counts. Join a tour and become an Eco Friendly Tourist. Tennessee Mountain Tours is committed to the preservation of the mountains, its history, and its heritage. It takes constant work and vigilance from locals, tourists, and businesses alike to keep our park clean and pristine. Just know that if you choose to take a tour instead of going on your own you ARE making a positive impact on the environment. A step in the right direction, no matter how small is still a step in the right direction.
